Steel security screen doors are just what the name implies, doors that you can open for a draft and to keep the bugs out, while at the same time providing security from more dangerous outdoor pests and and intruders. While you can get security screen doors in aluminum, since aluminum is so soft, it's hard to get any real safety out of them. As far as companies go, there are two companies, First Alert and Columbia manufacturing, that build good quality security screen doors for your home or cabin. First Alert builds corrosion resistant galvanized heavy duty metal screen with baked-on powder coat finish. First Alert's security screen doors have welded steel construction and welded steel butt hinges to add strength and durability to their doors. Their doors also include fly straps on the lock and hinge sides. First Alert has 5 different grades of security doors that are designed to provide the highest degree of security and protection for your family and other valuables. First Alert's doors are tested 3 different ways and are strength rated. All First Alert screen type security doors have 3 different warranties; a lifetime warranty covers defects in materials, workmanship and the painted finish of the door, a burglar guard promise which covers the repair or replacement of any First Alert door, plus a reimbursement of up to $500 toward the deductible on your homeowner's policy if an illegal entry through a locked security door happens, and a no If's, And's or But's warranty that replaces any parts lost prior to installation or any parts which are cut incorrectly during your door's installation. Columbia Manufacturing is located in Gardena, California, and they produce patio, steel, wood, vinyl and prairie wood screen doors. All of their steel security screen doors come with the following features:

I like security doors because you can leave them locked and open, and still get a breeze through the house while staying safer. I have a front security screen door and a back security screen door on my home in Southern California. It really helps when the evening breeze comes up.
